My thoughts are all over the place about education in America. I think now days students are educated very well but then again very challenging. Some people dislike what goes on in schools now but some agree. Plus also every state and school is different on requirements for schools. The US I believe has very great school systems compared to South and Central America where Mexico schools can’t even afford to educate the children.
What is being taught in schools has changed a lot of the years. I look at my little brother and sisters homework now and they are learning stuff in Elementary that we didn’t even learn until later on such as in Middle school or such. What is being taught in elementary schools is advancing a lot. They are making these kids smarter and smarter. Which I’m not sure what to really think about. I guess it is a good thing because I have learned things that my parents never even learned which is still cool to know but then again they teach the kids a lot of things that you don’t even really use or need to know in life. If It has to do with a career you want someday then you should have a choice to take it, just like you do in college.
What really bugs me about education is that when you don’t move on or get into something because you didn’t do well on a test. A lot of people have test anxiety. You cannot get into certain colleges because of test scores. There should be other things to test someone’s ability to do something. Just look at their overall grades among other things. I also don’t see what the state tests do for the schools. No one likes those state tests and a lot of people do poorly on them. Also, I think most students should be allowed to start off in a college if they are paying for it. My grades improved over the years they seem to get better and better.
Another problem I have noticed is the separation between church and state, some schools haven’t been good at keeping those two topics separated. When I was in high school history there was a lot of talk about religion that a lot of students didn’t like and I’m sure some parents wouldn’t appreciate their children getting taught things of that sort. There are private schools to learn information about religion. Then there is state schools which are suppose to keep religion out of it. There was a time when those were both combined. But then they noticed that that caused a problem. I think schools need to be a little stricter to teachers about talking about those subjects. Personally the talk of religion doesn’t really bother me but I know it is a problem in schools. I just like laws to stay intact.
I think schools are very well funded and a lot of people care about their local schools and do what they can to help out. But then again certain things can be a rip off. Like when we pay taxes and our money gets put into those schools. And then all the different fees you have to pay for your child to go to school, from ASB to dances to sports. I think fundraisers are the best ways to have schools make money. Towns also decide to build new schools when yes they might not need it but they do spend way to much money on them when its not necessary. And that money comes from out taxes.
I’m still not sure what I totally think overall about education in America because I honestly have never really thought about it that much before Or really have ever paid attention to other states schools. Every state and county is different for the way they do schooling. Its hard to say much about overall in all of America. But in central and south America I think it is nice to do what we can to help them have a good education and not always be selfish in the US spending unnecessary amounts of money.
