Audre lords mind illustration

Audre Lorde is really good at illustrating pictures in your mind. She goes into great detail when describing what her teachers and school looked like. It made me feel like I was really there. I love how she learned to talk from Mrs. Baker reading to her and it made me happy that her mother was real impressed as well. I love how she describes each story she was read too, names the title and everything. I was happy to read that her moms annoyance seemed to disappear and that their was no more ear pinching. I love how she tells the story by topic to topic, very good order of events. She really progressed over the time period. It was nice for her to tell us about the teachers punishing her, how they didn’t treat her right, they would always become frustrated with her because she had trouble learning. She uses such great amount of detail to tell what her teachers were like, what they look liked to how they treated her. She really paints a good image into your mind of her life with education.

  1. Rebecca,

The details and visuals you describe with regards to Audrey's story are true. Audrey has an innate ability to paint a great picture with her words. From her encounter with Mrs. Baker to the cruel teachings methods of the Nazi nun.
