What I value in a teacher

Several things make a great teacher. What I value in a teacher is a very tough question to answer. I would have to go real deep in thought. One thing I value is compassion. Teachers need to have a love for what they do and want to actually be there to help you learn. They need to show they care and help you as much as they can. I also think teachers should try and teach in a way that everyone understands. I have had some teachers that I just never understood what the hell they are talking about and that made it really hard to learn. I also don’t approve of real strict teachers either. When you are mean too students that does not help them learn, it makes them scared and upset, sidetracked and frustrated. They then can’t think about the school work. I also don’t think lecturing is a great source of teaching, not everyone is audible learners or good note takers. I also value when they are really knowledgeable about the stuff they are talking about. I have had a teacher that never made any sense about what she was saying. She needed to back them up with facts. I also like a teacher that is organized and dependable. I don’t want them loosing work and giving us the wrong grade. I don’t know there is just several things I value in a teacher. Its hard to say unless I have a teacher right now that I have a problem with.

  1. Rebecca,

Compassion is a great way to break down barriers and walls. The key to all great leaders is leadership through servitude. Serve those who you are responsible for, this mantra will prove to be succesful in many aspects of life. Understanding your students and helping them overcome learning barriers is an example of this type of work. Great Post!
